With The 71st Pick In The 2012 NFL Draft The Redskins Select Jim Blutarsky

The Redskins have selected brother Bluto in the 3rd round. Josh Leribeus was academically inellegible for his Junior season…no official word that his GPA was “zero point zero.” Don’t hate Skins fans…was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

Vinny Cerrato: I’m Dumber Than You Think

It’s been said many times that Dan Snyder and Vinny Cerrato should’ve been the characters in ‘Dumb and Dumber’. Well, if that’s the case, then the day Vinny called Brian Xanders must’ve been the inspiration for ‘Dumb and Dumberer’.

From DC Sports Bog and via some SiriusXM radio show, Vinny disclosed a trade he tried to make during the 2009 draft:

“Like, the year that we were gonna take Orapko [sic], you know, we were trying to trade up with everybody, trying to trade up. Then Denver’s on the clock the pick before us, and I called them. How about this, I offer them a third-round pick to swap, and they called me back and they said No, you’re gonna get your guy, don’t worry about it, you don’t have to trade. How about that one?” [Laughter.]

So, Vinny tried to trade the Redskins 1st rd pick plus a 3rd to move up ONE spot. STUPID. The Broncos brain trust, despite knowing the Redskins were targeting Brian Orakpo and not Knowshon Moreno, turned down this offer. STUPIDER.

Knowshon Moreno was a bust while Orakpo has been a stud for the Redskins. Sometimes the best deals are the ones that are never made. Vinny is long gone and in the words of Ron White “You can’t fix stupid.”

DeMarcus Ware’s Depends May Come In Handy On Thanksgiving

DeMarcus Ware is in a Depends commercial…I’ll give you minute to let that sink in. A 29 year old athlete in the prime of his career is in a commercial about a product that promotes shitting yourself.

I fully understand that the commercial is done for charity and that the proceeds are used in an effort to promote prostate cancer. I am in no way trying to make light of cancer or what people who are dealing with it go through. I, like everyone else, have lost a loved one to cancer…F&*K cancer.

That being said, when a Dallas Cowboy is talking about wearing an adult diaper…that’s a blog opportunity that I can’t pass up. Clay Matthews and Wes Welker also star in the commercial, they should put Depends in the gift bags they hand out at the Pro Bowl.

On a side note I sharted as I wrote this post.

Joe Gibbs Interview With Clinton Portis

Joe Gibbs recently posted an interview on his website with Clinton Portis. The interview centers around Portis’ relationships with Sean Taylor and Coach Gibbs. I recommend checking out the entire interview, here’s a few of the highlights:

Playing for Joe Gibbs:

It was the best thing that ever happened to me. But I will say that Gibbs ran us into the ground! Coach Gibbs taught me how to become a man and to take responsibility for your actions both on and off the field. I have the greatest respect for him as a person and all the hard work and dedication that he put in- not only as a coach, but also as a mentor and friend. He would always give his honest opinion and had the ability to talk to you without being judgmental. He cared about his players more as people then he did about us winning games. Don’t get me wrong…he loved winning too. He got the best out of you when it came to football, but I think it came from how much his players respected him.

His relationship with Sean Taylor:

The way that Sean developed as a player and how he grew to trust Coach Gibbs was just outstanding. He never complained and always worked hard. For example if it was hot outside then he would go outside and run in a full sweat suit and if it was cold he would come out in shorts and a t-shirt and fight through the chills. You would never hear Sean give excuses like it’s too hot or too cold. I remember one day I came in to work out and Sean was there dressed in jeans, flip-flops and a sweater. He said that he would run with me so I didn’t have to work out by myself. So he ran 100’s with me and when we were done running I find out that it was his third time working out that day. He had run with every group that came in to work out that day. He was just that kind of guy

.

Hearing about Taylor’s death:

I remember getting a knock on my door at 6 a.m. and I could tell as soon as I saw Mr. Snyder’s [owner of the Redskins] face through the peephole that this was not news that I wanted to hear. I opened the door and Mr. Snyder was crying and before he could say anything I said, “Don’t tell me that.”

And Mr. Snyder replied, “He’s gone.”

I felt like this was all a bad dream and this couldn’t actually be happening. There is so much that goes through your mind when you get news like that. When you start to reflect on your last moments or last conversation with that person you feel like there is so much that you wish you had said, so much that you wish you could have done, should have done, etc.

Portis goes on to say he’s still keeping in shape for another shot at playing or in order to look good in front of a camera. I wish him nothing but good luck.

Cheers and Hail

Adam Carriker Caption Winner

A little while back I had a contest for the best caption in response to the picture below of Adam Carriker. Our winning caption came via Facebook all the way from Hawaii. Loyal blog friend and follower Liz Kauai commented “I turn green any second now…”

Liz is sporting a ladies HAIL tee from my shop. Check out my line of tees which are available in many styles for both men and women. Thanks to all who commented via twitter, Facebook and the website. As always, I appreciate your support.

The Road To New Orleans

When I say the road to New Orleans I’m not talking about the 1st game of the year…I’m talking about the last one! I’m always way too excited and have way too much wishful thinking the first time I see a schedule. By the end of the week I’ll have the Redskins going 6-10 or 7-9, but for now I’m calling out 11-5 and NFC East champs! My game predictions:

@NO - The Saints are 36-16 at home w/ Drew Brees and 5-1 in home openers the last 6 seasons. The Saints are in turmoil but will be fired up for this game. The Skins will fall in RGIII’s debut. Saints 23 Redskins 17

@STL - The Rams will get a first hand look at why they should have scrapped the Sam Bradford experiment in favor of RGIII. RGIII will account for 300+ yards of total offense along w/ 3TD’s. Redskins 24 Rams 10

CIN - The Bengals were a playoff team last year but that doesn’t matter. The Redskins win their home opener behind a solid mix of run & pass. Roy Helu amasses 150+ yards receiving and rushing. Redskins 27 Bengals 16

@TAM The defense will come up big against Raheem Morris’ former team. The Skins will intercept Josh Freeman multiple times including a DeAngelo Hall TD. Redskins 31 Bucs 10

ATL - The Falcons had a down year last season when the were the “sexy” pick to go to the Super Bowl. I expect the Falcons to rebound this season and will beat the Redskins at home. London Fletcher has 15 tackles. Falcons 24 Redskins 17

MIN - Another big game for RGIII as he sets a career high with 3 TD passes including 2 to Chris Cooley. Redskins 28 Vikings 14

@NYG - The Redskins have had the Giants number lately but will fall just short in this one. The game ends on a Graham Gano missed field that would’ve put the game in OT. Giants 23 Skins 20

@PIT - The Steelers have jumped the shark and their window has closed. Lorenzo Alexander causes a special teams turnover and Leonard Hankerson has his biggest game as a pro. Redskins 24 Steelers 13

CAR - In this match up of the last 2 Heisman winners it’s a draw. Both RGIII and Cam Newton play well and put up big #’s but it’s Pierre Garcon and his 160 yards receiving who is the star. The Redskins come from behind to win. Redskins 31 Panthers 28

PHI - Michael Vick isn’t a factor in this one as he’s already out for the year with an injury. Kyle & Mike Shanahan bring a solid offensive game plan to the table and the Skins cruise to a NFC East victory. Redskins 26 Eagles 9

@DAL - Tony Romo + primetime + Redskins = Happy Thanksgiving. Redskins 21 Cowboys 17

NYG - The Redskins win their 5th game in a row behind 2 rushing TD’s by RGIII. Eli Manning looks dazed and confused after a big sack by Brian Orakpo…wait, Eli looks dazed & confused all the time. Redskins 17 Giants 16

BAL - The battle of the beltway goes to Joe Flacco and his yellow teeth and big eyebrows. No one can accuse Flacco of being a metro sexual. Ravens 20 Skins 13

CLE - It’s the F’ing Browns people, of course the Skins win. Mike Holmgren has an aneurysm in his suite watching RGIII play. Redskins 30 Browns 12

@PHI - Very disappointing loss to the Eagles who were playing without Vick. Compounding matters is RGII comes away from the game with a hamstring injury, Ryan Kerrigan has a banged up shoulder and Mike Shanahan has tanning booth burns. We’re dealing with major shit here folks. Eagles 19 Redskins 14

DAL - It’s simple, the Redskins win and they are NFC East champs…if they lose they’re in a 3 way tie with the Giants and Cowboys for 1st and one team goes home depending upon a bunch of math. My blog is simple, the Redskins win. The Cowboys fire Jason Garrett a few days later and look to draft a QB in the 1st round of the 2013 draft. Redskins 27 Cowboys 17

11-5 NFC East Champions…I may be a little drunk right now.

Cheers and Hail
