Becked If We Do, Becked If We Don’t

John Beck or Rex Grossman? What kind of quarterback “controversy” are we really dealing with here? What’s the argument…this guy doesn’t suck quite as bad as the other guy? Seriously, why the F should anyone really care about 2 journeymen QB’s that are barely on a NFL roster, let alone starting?

Of course we care because we are fans, diehard fans of the Washington Redskins. Short of that, you can’t build a compassionate argument for either of these QB’s. Rex Grossman has had the opportunity to start 8 games and has managed to turn the ball over 18 times in that span…that doesn’t work. Rex went 4-4 in his starts and one can only imagine that the Redskins may have gone 6-2 or better had Rex only turned the ball over 1 time a game…instead of 2+. But, Rex has proven during his 9 years in the NFL that he simply can’t be relied upon to protect the ball…so he’s turned the ball over again (pun intended) to Beck.

The only thing I can possibly hope to see from Beck is less turnovers. He’s got some mobility which he’s going to need since the Redskins offensive line is banged up. Give me a little mobility, limit the turnovers and manage the game well…that’s all we can hope for. We don’t have Aaron Rogers lining up in disguise wearing a burgundy and gold #12 jersey. What we have is a guy who’s been unable to be active for a NFL game for nearly 5 seasons.

Despite the fact the fact that the Redskins defense is much improved and will keep us in most games…I will be amazed if the Redskins can find a way to win 5 more games this season. Forget about the 3-1 start and all the optimism that brought, this team is a .500 team at best. The Redskins will never be able to take it to the next level until we improve the QB position. So argue all you want…

All we really need is a little Luck.

Cheers and Hail

#TeamJones Is Still DREAMIN

I don’t know how the rest of you feel, but I for one miss Reggie Jones and the journal that he kept on this site. I wanted to give everyone an update on Reggie and his continued pursuit of following his dream.

Reggie is playing for the UFL’s Virginia Destroyers who will play for the UFL Championship this Friday night in Virginia Beach, VA. The Destroyers are coached by former Redskins and longtime NFL coach Marty Schottenheimer, who also has former Redskins coaches Kurt Schottenheimer and Mike Stock on his staff. Former Redskins player Delbert Cowsette is also a coach.

After the championship game on Friday all UFL players are free to sign with any NFL team. Over the last 2 years over 100 UFL players have signed deals with NFL teams. Of course I’m hoping that Reggie can make a play or two that will catch the eye of the NFL scouts that will be in attendance. Reggie and I have remained in contact since training camp and he’s never stopped working towards or wavering on his ultimate goal…to play again in the NFL. For those of us that know him best, we have no doubt that this will happen.

Reggie would never say a cross word about the Redskins regarding his departure from the team…which is probably why RJ went away quietly. I, on the other hand, have a 30+ year relationship with this team and I’ll say whatever I want. It was total BS how everything went down with the Skins, it just wasn’t right…and I’ll leave it at that.

I’m still on #teamjones and I know you guys are too. We haven’t heard the last from Reggie…far from it.

Goodnight… #DREAMINabout “orange cones” the roadblocks in the way of my friends road to success won’t stop him…they can only slow him down. ~$HOWTIME

Cooley Shows Off His Finger On Fox5

Chris Cooleyshowed Fox5 news more than just his broken finger this morning during a live interview from his home. Unbeknownst to the Fox5 cameras it appears Cooley has a cartoon penis on his splint…of course he does.
The penis pops up around the 30 sec mark.

Rex Grossman Is A Turnover Machine

I’ve seen enough of Rex Grossman to last me for my lifetime. This guy should name his autobiography ‘Three Picks And A Fumble’…unless Vinny Testraverde already has the copyrights. Seriously, take a look at these not so fun facts;

Grossman has turned the ball over in every game he’s appeared in with the Redskins. Even in his limited playing time in the famous “cardiovascular endurance” Lions game Grossman managed to lose a fumble.

Grossman has turned the ball over 2 or more times in 6 of his 8 starts.

Grossman has turned the ball over 2 or more times in 23 of his 47 career games. 50% of the time this guy steps on the field he’s going to give the ball to the other team 2 or more times.

Grossman has turned the ball over 3 or more times in 12 of his 47 career games. He’s unbelievably good at being bad.

I’m certain things will not get any better with John Beck as the starter but I’ve seen a large enough sample size of Grossman to comfortably move on. I mean Beck only has 1 game in which he’s turned the ball over 2+ times in 3 career starts. Of course it was 5 turnovers in the game which was 4 years ago because he hasn’t been good enough to get in a NFL game since then!!!

Help me.

Cheers and Hail

Joe Gibbs Likes Blazing Saddles

Wondering what Joe Gibbs has been up to since his retirement from the Redskins? Well, he’s certainly keeping busy with his NASCAR teams and spending quality time with his family…this much we know. However, did you ever imagine that in his spare time Joe likes to kick back, relax and watch one of his favorite movies, ‘Blazing Saddles’?

Gibbs has a website called Gameplan For Life which is modeled after his book of the same name. It’s actually a pretty cool site that is very interactive and inspirational. Joe will even send you a free Bible…I know this because I got a Bible in the mail from Joe.

I was amazed when I logged onto the site and read one of Joe’s “Life Purpose Top 10’s” which happened to be his list of all-time best westerns. What should I see listed as #10? One of the most politically incorrect and racists movies I’ve ever seen, the aforementioned ‘Blazing Saddles’. In no way can I picture Joe cackling in his all too familiar laugh watching the fart scene while sitting around in his home theatre…try as I may.

It appears that Gibbs has several bloggers that write posts for his site. And even though the post says it was posted by Joe Gibbs I’m sure someone else wrote it…but who edits his website?

I’m also trying to figure out the “life purpose” to take away from this movie?

Cheers and Hail
