Albert Haynesworth Is A 74′ Olds

With all this “high motor” talk concerning Ryan Kerrigan(I picture him being a Chevy Duramax) it got me thinking about what kind of motor Albert Haynesworth would be. It didn’t take long for me to realize that the Howard Sternshow actually has sound bites of AH’s engine running…or trying to get started. I do warn you that the link contains potty humor so don’t click on it if you don’t find humor in that stuff, I apparently do.

Skins Select Ryan Kerrigan

I must admit that I was impressed and happy that the Redskins pulled off trading down in the draft and added another much needed 2nd round pick. Some folks were underwhelmed by the selection of Ryan Kerrigan but I’m fine with the pick. The guy had 33.5 sacks and set records for forced fumbles and tackles for losses in his college career.

Current Redskin and Kerrigan’s future mentor Phillip Daniels is satisfied with the pick:

I love the pick. Kerrigan is a really good player with a very high motor.less than a minute ago via Plume Favorite Retweet Reply

Kerrigan will probably see action at both DE and OLB in the Redskins 3-4 defense. One things for sure, although I’ve not confirmed it…I’m pretty certain the Redskins are the first NFL team to have 2 white DE’s picked in the 1st round of the NFL draft on an active roster at the same time. I’m hoping Kerrigan is better than Adam Carriker.

2 picks tomorrow, how about a RB and a O-lineman?

Cheers and Hail

NFL Draft 2011: Danny & Shanny Have Their Poker Faces On

I thought about writing a post telling you guys whom I hoped the Redskins would pick versus who I thought they’d pick. Ultimately, I decided that you guys wouldn’t give 2 shits about what I thought. There’s enough mock drafts out there to make you overdose. Not only do we have Mel Kiper and Todd Mckshay telling us what’s going to happen, we got every swinging dick with a blog telling us what they think is going to happen. I’ve been watching football for over 30 years and blogging about it for 3+ years…I know my place, I’m not a scout and I can’t break down potential NFL players. (I think I can, but I’m wise enough to know I can’t)

If you’re a blogger and you’ve written posts about a player’s attributes and intangibles…well you’re a tool. You’re probably currently clocked in at some 9-5 job and you’re secretly posting your “breakdown” of said player before someone catches you writing about it in your cube. Don’t get fired from your day job because there is no NFL team that’s going to hire you for your scouting skills…everyone has access to Google.

Me personally? I hope the Redskins trade down and add another 2nd or 3rd round pick. I know we need help at OLB/DE, O-line, RB, WR, QB and CB. I have my choices for the top players at those positions and I hope the Redskins end up with a couple of them. I’m sure the trading up for Blaine Gabbert is a smokescreen and I hope the Redskins can play this poker game like Booger from Revenge of the Nerds. That is all.

Cheers and Hail

John Riggins Is Still Chopping Wood

Back in October 2009 John Riggins delivered several YouTube videos bashing the Redskins while sitting atop a pile of wood. Over a year and a half later Riggo is still splitting and piling massive amounts of wood with his bare hands. Witness these 2 photos that Riggo posted to his Facebook page yesterday.

Some observations of the above photos:

Riggo lives on the Potomac and appears to have a Dan Snyder type project going on with the clearing of trees off his property.

I haven’t seen that particular color blue on a pair of blue jeans since Bo Duke went hood sliding across the General Lee.

Riggins is in great shape for a guy who is 61 years old! I have no doubt that on a 4th and 1 or in a goal-line situation Riggo could still get us a TD or a 1st down.

That’s one of the largest piles of wood I’ve ever seen and Riggins stated on FB that he cut it all with an axe and hand tools, no chainsaws. And he did it wearing flip flops?

I can’t make out what type of beer Riggo was drinking…somebody please tell me.

Cheers and Hail

O, Here We Go Again

The O’s 6-2 start is now a distant memory. At the end of Easter Sunday, nearly 1 month into the season, the Orioles are tied with several other teams for the fewest wins in the majors with 8. In the O’s defense they have had a few rainouts (which could’ve been more wins…or losses) and they are just 2 games out of 2nd place.

Redskins 2011 Schedule…Take Off You Hoser!

Five initial thoughts about the Redskins 2011 schedule:

Canada, really? This is what it’s come to…playing the Bills in Canada?

1 primetime game, against the Cowboys on Monday night in week 3. For comparisons sake the 1991 Skins only had 2 prime time games, one of those was against the Cowboys in week 2, the Skins won 33-31.

The NFL got week 1 wrong! The Redskins/Giants game should be the primetime game…it’s a no brainer. The 2 cities most impacted by 9/11 facing each other is not the primetime game…the NFL chose the Cowboys/Jets? Wrong! I hope the Cowboys get their asses kicked!

100% chance the Redskins send out a bulk email within 24 hours pumping up this schedule and asking season ticket holders to pay for their tickets.

I’ve gone thru the schedule 3 times now and based upon our current roster my prediction for 2011 is 6-10.

Cheers and Hail
